Volunteer

HealthShare Global provides superior global health experiences for volunteers in rural Haiti. We are in need of both students and practicing medical professionals such as:

  • Premed, medical, and nursing students
  • Practicing physicians
  • Practicing nurses

jump right in

Rather than working in a vacuum, our volunteers work as complements to an existing Haitian community health program by conducting home visits, vaccination campaigns, prenatal care, school clinics and mobile clinics.

Our volunteers witness not only the health problems of a resource-poor environment but also contribute to effective solutions. Equally important, they experience day-to-day life in rural Haiti with all of its joy and challenges.

earn credits

Need CME credits? The University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine will offer 20 Continuing Medical Education Category 1 credits for any community preceptor who volunteers to provide one week of supervision for University of Miami medical students working in Haiti.

cost

Most volunteers stay for one week but longer stays can be arranged for volunteers with special interests. The average trip costs approximately $1000 which includes airfare to and from Miami, transportation to the central plateau, meals and lodging.
